Black Hawk Down
A few weeks back I saw Black Hawk Down, and it prompted me to read the book; I highly recommend both. The movie does an excellent job of using artistic license in a way that remains true to the actual events, while the book (naturally) gives us greater view into the men who found in the Battle of the Black Sea.
I have to admit that -- while being an avid fan of all things military -- I ignored this book for a long time, (wrongly) presuming that it detailed another bungled operation by the US military. How wrong I was! Mark Bowden (the author) actually dedicated the book to the Rangers and Delta operators who fought, and he did and excellent job.
NRO had a nice interview with Bowden a couple of months back, which you can read here.
